Convinced of the health benefits of bicycling, one of our Board members (Dr. Diane Pittman) has been the guiding force behind setting up a program for putting people who need them for basic transportation around Bemidji on bicycles. "Our primary activity is collecting old bikes, fixing them and getting them to low income people," says Diane. " We promote free cycling events in the community, distribute helmets, teach mechanincal skills and safety.  Along the way we build relationships among the young and the old, the poor and the rich, people of different races and ethnicities, the privileged and the 'least and lost.'” 

 

Diane believes bicycling is for everybody and in sharing this health promoting, planet friendly activity we bring our community closer to the inclusive vision entrusted to us by our Creator.  "And we have a lot of FUN!," she concludes.
